Julian's Patisserie and Cafe in Folsom strikes a comfortable balance between a classic neighborhood café and a versatile breakfast spot. It’s the kind of place where locals drop in for a morning coffee and pastry but also settle in for a leisurely brunch any day of the week. The atmosphere feels warm and inviting without being too busy or overstimulating, making it well suited for casual catch-ups, light solo work moments, or a relaxed weekend start.

The focus here is obviously on fresh bakery delights and brunch-friendly dishes with a French influence — think croissants filled with ham and cheese, or their standout crepes that run from rich Nutella to fresh forest berries. Bakeries and breakfast items are executed with an attention to detail that comes through in taste and presentation. You’re likely to find people ordering a cinnamon roll to share (or keep all to themselves), or grabbing breakfast sandwiches that balance buttery bread with savory fillings just right.

Julian's does a solid job catering to those who appreciate food that’s both satisfying and a bit refined. Whether you want a cozy nook to enjoy a coffee and a yogurt bowl or a more substantial breakfast like a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant, this place covers a range of morning appetites. The pace is relaxed enough that you don’t feel rushed, and the staff come across as friendly without hovering — a plus when you want to unpack your morning slowly.

The interior is clean and neatly put together, offering a calm environment that isn’t overwhelmed with decor but still feels thoughtfully curated. It’s a spot that fits naturally into the Folsom community — informal enough for quick weekday stops, but also inviting for weekend brunches or even picking up a specialty dessert for occasions.

For anyone in or around the 6610 Folsom-Auburn Rd area, Julian's provides a dependable café experience that goes beyond just coffee. If you’re partial to pastries with a European touch, enjoy all-day breakfast options, or want a café where you can easily chat or unwind, this place is worth carving out some time for—especially in the mornings or early afternoons when the selection is fresh and the vibe quietly energetic.

Tried this place today, ordered Vege Omlette, Lemon Blueberry Crepe and another Vege Crepe. The Veg Omlette with mushrooms, mozzarella and tomato and eggs was awesome! lemon crepe, the cream filling was on the tangy side. It was quite full and satisfying.

So glad I tried their crepes, we got the blueberry lemon one and the house made curd was just perfect. Not too sweet, with the right amount of tartness. Their menu items are diverse and the store is clean and neat. Very friendly staff, and delicious food! I would go back just to try their other menu items.

Julian’s Patisserie absolutely deserves 5 stars. They handled our wedding cakes and did an amazing job—from the gorgeous floral design (see photo) to the perfectly smooth buttercream. We picked the cakes up ourselves and everything was ready on time, boxed securely, and exactly as we’d ordered. The cakes were moist, flavorful, and beautifully decorated; you could really taste the quality of the ingredients and the care put into every detail. Beyond the wedding, Julian’s is now one of our favorite spots for brunch. Their pastries are flaky and fresh, the coffee is solid, and there are plenty of savory options so everyone in our group finds something they love. Service has always been warm, patient, and helpful, even when the shop is busy. If you’re looking for a local bakery for special-occasion cakes or a relaxing weekend brunch, Julian’s Patisserie is a fantastic choice.

FINALLY someone who understands that "breakfast" should be served all day and that brunch is a daily thing, not just weekends. Like what is so wrong with having eggs Benedict on a Tuesday? Nothing according to Julian, apparently. My kinda dude. We had initially stopped in for pastries and coffee, however I realized I was hungry and thought I might feel sick eating sweets, so I decided on a crèpe. I chose one with chicken, ham, mozzarella and béchamel. I honestly expected dry chicken and that the béchamel would be on top. When my crèpe arrived, there was no sauce on top, so I wondered if they had forgotten it. I cut into it and was pleased to see it ooze out. I took my first bite, and it was positively loaded with flavor! I exclaimed, "Mmmm!" It was creamy, and the chicken chunks were extremely tender. Like I want to ask him how he cooks such tender chicken. It was amazing smothered in melted cheese and béchamel. The greens were fresh and were served with a thick balsamic dressing and a sprinkle of feta. All of it was beyond satisfying. The only negative was that the decaf coffee had a hazelnut flavor, which nobody warned me about. I hate the taste of flavored coffee. My companion had an eclair. According to her it tasted as delicious as it looked. It was filled with cream. I was very jealous, but we showed up towards the end of the day, and another customer bought the last eclair. Next time! The staff was very kind and patient in explaining what things were. The space inside was comfortable. The outside tables seemed clean. The area with all the pastries looked bright and inviting. Overall I loved Julian's and will definitely head over again soon.

Do not walk, run to this place! You wanna run also to help out with all the yummy calories you will eat. My first time there today and I got the cinnamon roll. Omg the absolute best I EVER had and I'm 49!. It was a huge buttery crossiant with a thick layer of cream cheese frosting on top and cinnamon sprinkled on top of that. It is huge, enough for 2 people to share. It melts in your mouth and is pure heaven!!! I promise your gonna thank me if you try it!

My first visit at the cafe was in the afternoon and almost all the pastries were sold out. Luckily, they still got some croissants left for me to try. There were plenty of seating inside and few outdoor seatings. Fast forward to few months, I went back here for a breakfast with my friend to try their menu. We ordered at the cashier and was given number for our table. We arrived at 8:30am and got our food promptly. At this morning hour, all the pastries and baked good were well stocked. The cafe got busier as we finished our breakfast. - butter croissant: the size of croissant was huge! The outer layer was crunchy and the inside was flaky and had perfect air pockets! Unfortunately, it lacked the buttery taste. - almond croissant: very crunchy outer layer and flaky inside. The frangipane filling was a bit too sweet for me but has good flavor - chocolate croissant: good flakey & crunchy croissant. There was only a small piece of chocolate inside (which was kinda disproportionate to the size of the croissant itself) - wish it has more chocolate inside. - blueberry lemon crepes: flavor wise it was good but I think they might overcooked the crepes. The crepes were very crispy, more like cracker texture - unlike soft crepes anywhere else. The lemon curd filling was very bright and full of lemon. The blueberry pieces were plump and fresh. - egg Benedict on croissant: my favorite!!! The crispy & flakey croissant was the perfect alternative to english muffin. The eggs were perfectly poached with runny yolk. The hollandaise sauce was good and creamy. The potato pieces were crispy and well seasoned.

This was my first visit. I stopped in around 930 am on a Friday. There is plenty of parking. They are open from 8am to 4pm Monday thru Saturday and from 9am to 4pm on Sunday. It's a very nice bakery/café with seating inside and outside. When I entered I could smell the aromas of baked goods as well as the delightful smells of breakfast (bacon, eggs, etc.). You see the pastry display as soon as you enter. They all looked delicious! I decided on buying a few of the cookies (triple chocolate with chocolate chips, regular chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin). They are very large cookies. I broke off a small piece of the oatmeal raisin which was crispy around the edges, very chewy, moist and delicious! The other cookies (for my family) appeared to be the same texture and I'm sure just as delicious! The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day so I had to ask about it. To my delight breakfast is served anytime during their open hours (8am-4pm). I will definitely be returning sometime soon for breakfast! In addition to the pastries, desserts, and breakfast, they also serve lunch and are known for their pizza, crepes and cakes. You can view the menu on their website. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming. I observed families with kids, people chatting and laughing, as well as people sitting alone. There was a steady steam of people ordering to go, as well as eating inside and outside. This bakery/café is most definitely a place check out.
